To photograph the moon: 1. Use a tripod! A flat surface will only allow you to shoot straight, and shooting the moon means that you'll be shooting up and constantly re-adjusting the tripod as the moon moves throor the camera's self timer if you don't have one, so that you don't move the camera when pressing the shutter release during a long exposure. 3. Use a zoom lens and zoom in as much as you can to the moon. It's okay if it's not a super fancy lens, this was shot using a 15 year old $100 lens. Focus in on the craters and details on the moon. 4. ISO 1250- 1600, so that you can use as fast a shutter speed as you can without losing detail-the longer the shutter speed, the more chances you have the camera will shake even slightly in the wind, resulting in an out of focus photograph. 5. Aperture priority of f/5.6 since you are not worried about capturing any details other then the moon. 6. Bracket your exposure, meaning over expose and underexpose the photograph from what the camera is telling you. Generally the camera will overexpose the moon, so you'll get nothing but a white blob in the sky. Use the exposure compensation button (the +/- button below the shutter release) and change the exposure to -0.5, then -1.0, then -1.5 and so on, until you start seeing detail in the moon. You may go as far as -5.0 exposure compensation to get what you need. 7. Take a fair amount of photos and keep refocusing as the night progresses. The photographs may look focused on the camera's display, but you won't really see if they're completely in focus until you upload them onto your computer screen. I took the photographs under S mode and made the ISO 1600. 2. A struggle I had doing the fast shutter speed was just the lighting outside. To fix this, I moved to a different spot but I didn't really have a problem using fast shutter speed. 3.Three things I learned about fast shutter speed is that it can capture moments happening before the moment goes away, it also can capture every aspect of the photo. The last thing I learned was it can capture things in mid air as well, making it appear floating. 4. Other things you can use fast shutter speed for would be jumping in the air and maybe a shooting star. RespectMy artwork is about loving yourself. By loving yourself you are respecting yourself. From my perspective, before you can love anyone else you have to love yourself first. Since loving yourself is respecting yourself, loving one another is respecting others as well. Having enough love for yourself means you respect yourself enough to take care of yourself and have your best interest at heart. If people could grow to love one another then they would have respect for each other. With that, the world could turn out to be a better place with love and respect. Also, by loving yourself, you’re appreciating yourself more so once you are respecting yourself more then one can be happier. The overall message of my artwork is loving yourself which can be extremely beneficial in many aspects. Light Painting1. I took the light painting photos on a tripod in a dark room. I had my partner model for me by swinging the glow sticks around. For some of these photos , I had someone flash the flashlight on their cell phone. 2. Struggles with light painting include: using a flash when trying to capture the light painting design and timing it correctly. 3.What I learned from light painting is Shutterspeed ExerciseShutter Speed
-Layering motion of different subjects moving different directions at different speeds can set up interesting dynamics within a photo.
1. By rotating the dole on the top I was able to change the mode to S. 2.When the shutter speed changes, it is able to capture photos with more motion depicted and able to make out the photo. 3.I would want to use shutter speed as priority to capture things that are moving.I can also use it to freeze the movement of a subject. Using a fast shutter speed can make things freeze in the air as well. CyanotypeInventor: John Herschel invented cyanotype by 1839. Chemicals used for cyanotype: ferric ammonium citrate, potassium ferricyanide and water. Steps of making my cyanotype: The first step I did was brushed emulsion by doing a thin layer on top of the paper. Step 2 was using a hairdryer to dry the paper. The next step included arranging the piece of artwork on my paper. Step 4 was taking the artwork with the glass on top, outside to sit in the sun for 6-12 minutes. The next step was putting the paper in chemicals and adding water to it until the photo developed better. The last step was once again, using a hair dryer to dry my product. Daguerrotype Inventor- Louis Daguerrotype invented daguerrotype in 1839 Daguerrotype Process: Method of getting permanent photos with a camera. The inventor found out a photo on a plate can be developed by using mercury vapor. Daguerrotype can be a photograph that can be developed by using a iodine silver plate. Toy StoryLife not so Under the seaOnce upon a time, in an undersea life Ursulas' scheming cat complains about how he misses being human. A long time ago, Ursula had turned this human into a cat to do her dirty work and help her carry out her schemes. The cat is always found reminiscing on what it was like to be a human. There is much bickering back and forth of the cat wanting to be human again. Ursula gets mad and the cat runs away in fear. Ursula then casts a spell and it turns her cat into a dinosaur. Little did Ursula know that this would be a big mistake. After Ursula turns the cat in to a dinosaur, the dinosaur realizes how much bigger and stronger he is than Ursula. Within moments, the dinosaur begins destroying the whole undersea palace. After seeing that the dinosaur is destroying everything, Ursula begins to panic. At that point, she turns the dinosaur back into a human. As quickly as possible, the human tries to make an escape. Without looking back, the human swims all the way up to the surface. Finally reaching the surface, the human has made his escape. While returning back to normal civilization, the human gets himself a house. After that, he decides to have his own cat as a pet. Everything appears to be normal and the human lives a long happy life with his pet cat. Aperture PriorityIn the picture the first box and the las box appears to be more blurred then the middle one. In this photo the aperture is f/1.8. In this picture the aperture is f/3.5. The first box seems to be blurred and the middle slightly but the back box is clear. The camera wasn't exactly level in this picture. For this picture the first two boxes are more clear while the back one is blurred. The aperture in this photo is f/8. In this photo something I could have improved on was making sure the camera was level. Digital Camera Basics
Camera Obscura takes place in a dark room, where an image is projected upside down. Camera obscure helped progress in photography. Johann heinrich schulze had helped contribute to photography by proving it was done by light and not heat. Surrealism ProjectI had this photo taken of me in Carlsbad, somewhere near the beach. It represents me because although I’m not at the beach, I’m still very close to it. I really enjoy being at or near the beach because the whole concept of it is very relaxing! Also, Carlsbad is one of my favorite places and it’s a place where my friend and I normally go. I originally had this photo taken of me in front of a stone wall but added flowers to the wall. I chose to add the flowers because the type of flower I saw looked tropical.
What I did to change the picture was, I firstly edited it to black and white. I also used an app, allowing me to sort of create a second, reflecting image. I took a picture of a tropical looking flower and cut all of the background out. From there, I pasted a bunch of the flowers to the stone wall, transforming it to a flower wall. I thought it would be nice to have a contrast of color, making the flowers red. After that, I chose a vibrant color filter that made the flowers a variety of color, leaving the portrait of me in black and white. The first app I utilized was an app called layout to get the reflected image of me. From there, I used the filters on my iphone to make the picture black and white. I used an app called “eraser” to cut out the picture I took of the flower. After that, I used pixlr to add the flower picture I cut as an overlay. I added many of the flowers to the brick wall. I used another filter on pixlr to change the color of the flowers to a transparent light pink/red. After all those steps, I added a colorful filter to the whole picture, creating for diverse color of flowers and leaving just the portrait of me black and white.
